Homeowners can schedule counseling to be done over the phone. Not all counselors offer counseling over the phone but below you will find a few that can help. You can also schedule phone counseling with a national HUD approved counseling center.

Kathy is a very knowledgeable counselor who can assist you with your reverse mortgage counseling. Kathy prefers to meet homeowners in-person but may be able to provide the counseling over the phone. We realize that traveling to Denver from Colorado Springs can be difficult and time consuming but we really do encourage homeowners to meet with a counselor face to face.

Calling the counselor directly is the fastest and most convenient way to get an appointment scheduled. This is the only counseling center authorized to provide HECM counseling in Colorado Springs but you can also find other counselors in the Denver Metro Area and surrounding areas. Although phone counseling has become very popular these days, if you live in Colorado Springs, we encourage you to meet with the counselor face to face.
Certificate of Completion
As soon as your counseling is complete, the counselor will issue a certificate that will need to be signed and provided to your lender of choice. You may sign loan documents prior to the counseling course but 3rd party services such as an appraisal may not be ordered until counseling is completed.
Why Do I Need Counseling?
Counseling is designed to make sure homeowners have a clear understanding of how the HECM program works. It is also a great opportunity to revisit some of the loan expectations that the homeowners discussed with their lender. The counseling center is a government approved agency that is there to protect consumers from predatory lending and misleading sales tactics.
